Description: Amazing book/pan-size cel setup with all of the layers except for one with Ez-8's legs, after Noris in Gouf Custom was struck by Shiro when he realized who the pilot was!
As you can see in the screenshot, the kabuse layer was used to depict the rapid movement and vibration of a very large object such as a Mobile Suit. The setup can be displayed without it and will still look 100% complete, or with the kabuse layer aligned completely with the base layer!
Apparently, when Kawamoto Toshihiro (the chief animator/character designer of Cowboy Bebop who also was the character designer of 08th MS Team) was working on Cowboy Bebop, the president of Sunrise, Inc. complained to Kawamoto and said "Are you trying to bankrupt the company!?" to which Kawamoto replied, "I'm sorry, but it is not costing nearly as much as the 08th MS Team did."
A surviving setup like this really helps explain why the production cost of this show became so high, but this fight scene between Ez-8 and Gouf Custom is regarded to be one of the best fight scenes in the history of Mobile Suit Gundam!
